Artist Statement:

I want a song that can be used for multiple topics of the Consistent Life Ethic. Simply, because it centers around our tendency to dehumanize. Hopefully, it serves as a reminder that this fight is long but every voice is needed. We have hope in a tomorrow where love and life win.

Lyrics:

Well they don’t fit into the boxes politicians said we need.

Cuz to be human you must contribute to society

In a way that benefits only me

How’d we lose sight of the key?

We consume our own opinions

We justify the means

And turn a blind eye to the abuses in our own communities.

While we devour what is sour cuz it’s easy

Than the discomfort used to speak

So hey yeah, we throw our voices in the wind

Say loud, we can’t let it keep happening

So don’t grow impatient as we stand against this sin. Cuz love will win out in the end.

The drowning noise and agitation we use to dull the sting.

We are the experts at least in the views that we bring to our own masses but let’s examine things.

Why do we devalue human beings?

We grow tired of the dire as they lay dying in the streets.

Just bodies on the fire as long as they’re different than me.

We buy into the illusion of the conclusion that somehow this makes us free.

Well everyone is listening!

So hey yeah, we throw our voices in the wind

Say loud, we can’t let it keep happening

So don’t grow impatient as we stand against this sin. Cuz love will win out in the end.
